TOUR AND DARSHAN OF MATA VAISHNU DEVI
My next trip was to Temple of Mata Vaishnu Devi (shrine) in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Mata Vaishnu Devi Temple also called Bhavan , is situated at Tricoota hills, about approx. 13 km trek from Katra city base camp.
Katra is about 50 km away from Jammu city.
Jammu http://jammu.nic.in/ is a good city called to be winter capital of state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Darshan of Mata Vaishnu Devi is inside Holy Cave in form of three PINDIES , that are Mata Sarswati Devi , Mata Laxmi Devi and Mata Maha Kali Devi. ( no idol are inside Holy Cave ) . Collective Darshan of Three Pindies is Darshan of Mata Vaishnu Devi ji..Because here Mata Vaishnu Devi Dashan is in form of three SHAKTIES (supreme energies) i.e Mata Sarswati Devi , Mata Laxmi Devi and Mata Maha Kali Devi ji.
One is said to be lucky to have Darshan of Mata Vaishnu Devi , only if it is the call of Mata ...Mata ne bulaya hai.
Millions of devotees are lucky to visit here for Darshan through out the year.
Arti of goddess is performed twice a day, one before sunrise and other after sunset.
At right side in Holy cave is Darshan of Shiv Shankar in form of SHIV LINGA
There you can reach upto Bhavan (temple) either by walk or Pony ride or by Palkhis (palauquins) or by Helicopter . Helipad is near Sanjhi Chhat about 3km before Bhavan and from Helipad by walk or pony ride upto Bhavan.
You have to register youself before start of yatra at Katra base camp and you are issued a registration slip called Parchi. giving you a group number, this Parchi is checked and stamped and also you are frisked and your belongings or luggage is checked throughly by security persons (only because of security reasons) at first stage called Ban Ganga , then only you are allowed to start your Yatra.
After Ban Ganga next stage, comes Darshan of Charan Pduka (2.5km)
After that , there is Temple of Mata Ardhkuwari in a small cave , people take Darshan of Mata Ardhkuwari , rest for a few minutes and proceed further .
Then comes Scenic Spot of Sanjhi Chhat with good views , resting place , public facilities , tea coffee corners and bhojanalay.
At bhawan too, your Parchi is checked then only you are allowed inside Darshan complex.
Due to heavy rush Original Holy cave is mostly closed and newly constructed tunnels are opened for fast Darshan

After Holy Darshan of Mata Vaishnu Devi ,in return , you have to visit temple of Bhairav by other trek and take the Darshan of Baba Bhairavnath , otherwise your yatra is not complete.
Throughout both treks, all facilities like...drinking water , toilets , room accommodation , resting halls , cloakrooms , medical , footwear stands , bhait and prasad stores , bathing sections ,bhojanalayas etc are provided and managed by Shree Mata Vaishnu Devi Shirine Board.
........City of Katra ...Katra is base camp city with good markets , restaurants and hotels.Here you can get accommodations from Rs.300 to Rs.4000 per day as per your choice...
